2011 OBOKMT RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Eligible species is limited to King Mackerel. Each eligible king mackerel must meet a minimum length requirement of 30 inches from the nose to the fork in the tail. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make special prize categories for other species. These fish must meet the current federal and/or NC minimum length requirements to be eligible. Only one fish of each species can be weighed. All fish must be caught during tournament fishing hours. The Weigh Master has the right to refuse any fish.
2. Boats must depart from and return through a North Carolina Inlet. Little River Inlet is out of bounds.
3. Fish must be caught on rod and reel solely. No more than 6 lines can be fished at one time from each boat. All participants (Boat Captain and Crew) shall comply with the Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) Angling Rules and SKA Code of Conduct. The OBOKMT Rules shall apply in the event of a conflict between the OBOKMT Rules detailed herein and the SKA Angling Rules or SKA Code of Conduct.
4. Only Onslow Bay Open registered boats may participate in the tournament.
5. The Boat Captain or an Adult Representative must submit a signed OBOKMT Release and Indemnification Agreement with the Entry Form. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to and shall refuse entry of any applicant for failure to sign the OBOKMT Release and Indemnification Agreement.
6. Prizes to be awarded solely on the basis of weight. First prize to the boat weighing the heaviest fish caught. Each subsequent prize will be awarded to the next heaviest fish caught and so forth. This is a one fish, big fish tournament. You will be placed to receive the highest payout. Prizes of equal value will be awarded in the order that they appear in the Tournament Program. In the event prizes are added to the tournament after printing of the Tournament Program, the sequence of prize awards will be identified at the Captain’s Meeting.
7. Each boat is eligible to win one Primary Prize. Junior, Senior and Lady Angler are Primary Prizes. Participants must meet SKA qualifications to be eligible to win prizes in these categories.
8. Boats must meet SKA qualifications to be eligible to win prizes in the Small Boat Class.
9.Fishing hours are from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. No lines of any kind in the water before 6:30 AM. Scales will open at 2:30 PM and close at 5:30 PM. Tournament hours are from 6:30 AM until 5:30 PM, or after you officially weigh your fish.
10. All fish must be weighed in from the boat in which they were caught. No overland transportation of fish to the weigh station will be allowed. All fish weighed are forfeited to and become the property of the tournament. An adult member (over 18) of the crew must sign the weigh ticket no exceptions.
11. One team member may be allowed to leave the boat at the launch location (if applicable) prior to prior to check-in for the sole purpose of driving the boat trailer from the boat launch location to the weigh-in site. The boat shall not make landfall or tie up to shore. Nothing may be removed from the boat or passed from the shore to the boat.
12. A Boat Checker will enforce eligibility in the various prize categories. The Boat Checker may meet each boat as it arrives at the dock to verify compliance with prize categories entered during registration.
13. Each fishing team member must be identified on the Entry Form. Identified team members do not have to fish. Substitution of team members may be made prior to the completion of Registration. A team shall be disqualified from the Tournament if persons are onboard at the weigh-in and are not identified on the entry form. The names of Senior Angler, Lady Angler and Junior Angler must also be identified on the Entry Form to be eligible for those prizes. It is the responsibility of the crew to notify either the Boat Checker or the Tournament Committee of any changes in the crew. Changes to registration information and participation in prize categories (e.g. Under 18, Lady Angler, Senior Angler, etc.) will not be accepted after the fish is weighed. No replacement boats can be used without clearance from the Tournament Committee.
14. The tournament VHF channel will be VHF 68. All boats at the weigh in line should be tuned to the tournament channel for instructions.
15. All protests must be submitted to the Tournament Committee and must be accompanied by $150 in cash. The Tournament Committee will make the exclusive determination as to whether a protest is upheld or denied. The $150 deposit will be returned to the protesting angler if the Tournament Committee upholds the protest. If the protest is denied, the $150 deposit is deemed to be forfeited to the Tournament Committee. All decisions of the Tournament Committee are final and are not subject to final review.
16. If the tournament is cancelled, all fees will be returned minus 10% of the entry fee and 10% of the TWT.
17. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to refuse entry from any applicant. An applicant who is refused entry will have 100% of the applicants entry fees returned to them.
18. Signing the entry form and submission of registration documentation hereby gives the Tournament Committee the right to use, without payment or restrictions, any photographs of any boat, fish, or person participating in the tournament for any purpose whatsoever. This shall include, but is not limited to, resale of the photos for advertising, commercial or promotional purposes.
19. Any and all questions concerning the rules and regulations of the Onslow Bay Open should be directed to the Tournament Committee. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to modify, add, delete or adjust any and all rules at their sole discretion and is in no way limited in their scope. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make all the determinations and decisions regarding the interpretation and application of all tournament rules and the awarding of prizes. The decisions of the Tournament Committee are final and are not subject to further review.
20. Violation of any of the tournament rules by any angler or registered boat shall constitute grounds for automatic disqualification and immediate forfeiture of all fees and prizes. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to make the sole determination as to whether any of the tournament rules have been violated. The decision of the Tournament Committee shall be deemed final and not subject to further review. Boats can be disqualified at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.
